About Dr. Smith

Dr. Smith is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in disorders of the foot and ankle. He grew up in the Boston area. Dr. Smith went to college at Bowdoin College in Brunswick Maine, where he was a four year letter winner for the varsity soccer and squash teams. He then received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School.

After medical school, Dr. Smith completed his orthopaedic training at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program in Boston and then completed a Fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He specializes in foot and ankle disorders, foot and ankle sports medicine including a particular focus on minimally invasive surgery, foot and ankle trauma, and foot and ankle reconstruction.

Dr. Smith sees patients at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, and the Mass General Brigham Foxboro Health Care Center. He does surgery at each of these sites as well. He is on the faculty at Harvard Medical School and is the Director of the Brigham Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Fellowship. Dr. Smith is also an accomplished researcher and has published more than 70 peer-reviewed publications.
